Mesmerising Mexico

White sands. Turquoise crystal waters. Slender palm trees.

Delicious fish tacos. Fascinating ancient history. Tempting Tequila.

You can quite literally have your Taco and eat it!! Mexico really does have it all!

Many people argue over where is best to stay in Mexico.

I loved Riviera Cancun- Halfway between Cancun and Playa del Carmen. This made for easy excursions and visits to both town centers.

Cancun is definitely party area full of fun bars and bright clubs. It's beautiful white beach is the perfect place to catch some rays before heading for a Fat Tuesdays frozen cocktail.

Playa del Carmen is a relaxed but cosmopolitan town full of unique shopping and beautiful restaurants. The town is also host to a great art scene with artwork designs on the side of most buildings.

Tulum is very relaxed and hippie in feel- a lot of eco friendly resorts, restaurants and bars to pass time in. There are small boutiques littered along the streets for you to shop at leisure.

Whether you're in Cancun, Tulum or Riviera Maya... One thing that is a MUST SEE is Chichen Itza. Even more surreal and incredible than photos would have you think. TOP TIP- Get there for opening time! Opening means less tourists and a cooler temperature- because who wants to be a sweaty mess in their souvenir photo! Another top tip- keep a few drinks on you as there is nowhere to stop en route.

Another MUST DO- Coco Bongo Nightclub. Honestly, one of the most impressive shows I've seen. Between aerial acrobatics and impersonations, this show was non stop entertainment. Definitely worth the money. Book prior to arriving at your destination or as soon as you arrive at your hotel! There are 2 locations for you to choose from.

Adventure and Animals more your scene? Buy tickets for Xcaret! There are many tickets available offering different experiences from zip lining to buggy driving. Or take it easy and wander around the wildlife park gazing at exotic birds, measuring your size against that of a turtle or lazing by their purpose built beach.

Fancy Flamingos in Xcaret!

Eating out? Like seafood? Like cocktails? Hit up Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. in Cancun- the coconut shrimp is to die for! What is amazing about this place is the amount of Forrest Gump memorabilia. On your table is a "Run Forrest Run" and a "Stop Forrest Stop" sign to alert your serving staff for if you want or need attention. Also, if you missed out on eating at Gumps' in Cancun, try it at the airport! They also give souvenir glasses for selected drinks (both alcoholic and non). My souvenir Mason Jar hold the perfect amount of Gin and Tonic!

There are plenty of local eats to take your fancy in all resorts. I however, highly recommend Zama's in Tulum for their choice of Mexican snacks.

Don't fancy the bright lights of Cancun? Rather be day drinking on a beach? Spend time at Ziggy's (pictured earlier) in Tulum- the perfect beach bar. From ice cold Coronas to to sparkling soft drinks, Ziggy's caters to everyone. It has perfect views and fun seating- swings at the bar!!

Before jetting off to the aqua waters- check the time of year for hurricane and rainy season! In August, I just missed the start of hurricane season. With heavy rain one or two days and the tail end of a hurricane. I still had great weather and a fabulous tan.
